A bit about me
Hi, I’m Linda and I’m very lucky to have practiced Counselling, Nutrition and Naturopathy for over 20 years, and hold full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist.
I am deeply interested in the causes of emotional health and I am driven to approach evidence-based mental health care from a holistic, biopsychosocial perspective.
I have a very active interest in psychoneuroimmunology and the inter-relating, transactional factors involved in mental health, specifically the nutritional/biological determinants of mental functioning, such as malnutrition, genetics, infection and endocrinology (i.e. giving your brain what it needs to function well); and the neurobiological influences of counselling, healthy relationships, and health-related behaviour (in other words, how therapeutic connection with others changes our brains and biochemistry for the better). For example, resolving brain inflammation and counselling can both resolve depression, and having a sense of meaning in life as well as sufficient zinc can both regulate immune cell function.
More importantly, you will be free to speak confidentially and authentically, without airs and graces, and enjoy unconditional respect and support.
My scope does not currently include personality disorders, self harm and suicidality, or advanced anorexia nervosa. These require specialised therapy in order to be most helpful and least harmful to clients. However, I can refer clients to the best professional care in these areas. Feel free to contact me for more information.
Referrals and Rebates
You do not need a referral or diagnosis to attend therapy. You can simply call and make an appointment. However, a Doctor’s referral is required however, to claim a rebate under Medicare e.g, using the Mental Health Care Plan. You may be eligible for up to 20 sessions per calendar year.
If you have ‘Extras’ private health insurance cover for psychology, you may be eligible for a rebate through your health insurer for therapy consultations. Please contact your health insurer to inquire if you have cover for psychology services as part of your ‘Extras’, and the amount of rebate provided, as the rebates can vary amongst insurers.
