We may have been in the health and wellness industry a long time (Vive Health turns 10 later this year!) but we still continue to be inspired by some amazing individuals working hard to promote good health.
Just like most people, we work hard to avoid spending our downtime online. But like most people, we sometimes fail. Luckily, we use this time to pursue constructive digital pursuits: trawling Australian blogs for health and lifestyle news and information. So here are the 5 we keep coming back to, again and again:
1. Naughty Naturopath Mum
Alisha Lynch is the mummy blogger behind Naughty Naturopath Mum a blog that promotes natural health and provides practical tips on living a balanced life. While many health and wellness bloggers have jumped on the health trend bandwagon in recent times, Alisha has been a serious advocate of holistic health having worked in the health and organic food industry for 18 years and holding Advanced Diplomas in Health Science in Naturopathy, Nutrition and Herbal Medicine.
Best for: Family-oriented health and lifestyle tips.
2. Naturally Nutritious
This blog by Melbourne-based Melanie Lionello, a university-qualified nutritionist, is one that we follow because not only do we love the healthy food recipes she shares, the images are to-die-for! Lionello uses her blog to support a food philosophy that is not about diets, but about eating that strikes the right nutritional balance – a food philosophy that we share. We also recommend checking out her Instagram feed for some serious food lust!
Best for: People who appreciate great health food recipe and brilliant food photography.
3. I Quit Sugar
If you haven’t heard of I Quit Sugar, where have you been? This sugar-free 8 week detox created by Sarah Wilson began with a book that is now a New York Times best seller and it has literally taken Australia by storm. Although not all blog posts are written by Wilson, there is a team of people who post regularly so you are never starved for interesting articles. Whether you’re looking for lifestyle tips, food recipes, or even the latest health news, you’ll find it in this blog.
Best for: People looking for the latest health news and trying to cut down on the sweet stuff.
4. The Well Nest
A Brisbane-based personal trainer and health coach, Valeria Ramirez founder of The Well Nest firmly believes that happiness begins with good health (hear, hear!).The blog posts covers a range of topics: family health, natural beauty and delicious recipes. While not all posts on The Well Nest blog are written by Ramirez (some are written by Bella Newton), all posts are jam-packed full of information and helpful tips.
Best for: Busy people needing help to live a more balanced life.
5. The Nutrition Guru & The Chef
The dynamic husband and wife team behind The Nutrition Guru & The Chef, Jeff and Tara Leong are, as the title suggests, a chef (Japanese cuisine predominantly) and a nutritionist (degree-qualified). They are passionate about healthy food and healthy living and it shows throughout their website with plenty of nutrition articles, recipes and personal anecdotes. What we also love is that the advice given is always served up without a side of negativity/fear/what-not-to-eat. They promote a healthy relationship with food which is right up our alley.
Best for: Those looking for a no-nonsense fad-free approach to health.
